Lorelai Kuecker Virtual Trunk Show

Wednesday, September 23rd at 6:00 pm

Join Lorelai Kuecker for a fun workshop where she'll showcase her unique collection and share the stories behind some of her favorite constructed pieces. Lorelai, just 17, has
a heart for encouraging and supporting others. This interactive session is a great opportunity to explore a one-of-a-kind collection, ask questions, and connect with fellow sewing enthusiasts.

She'll be joining us virtually in our classroom (attendees must be in person.) Plus, fun door prizes & snacks from Red-Roxy Quilt Co!

This is sponsored by Winneshiek County Extension and Outreach. This is a free event but registration is required.

Lorelai is a quilter for the next generation and is the owner and artist of Pigs in a Blanket Quilting.

She has always been a creative person, and making things was her solution to a large fear of hers: boredom. She began sewing when she was five. Visiting her grandmother's house after school to sew straight lines on her machine. Soon, she and her mom began to sew dresses and other projects to enter in the Missouri State Fair! As much as she loved to see her work displayed at the fair, the creative process was frustrating because she had to be guided along every step of the way (and she's a self proclaimed stubborn girl)!

At eleven, she found a box of fabric strips in her grandmother's basement that were cut by her great-great-grandmother! Lorelai saw a chance to create on her own, and she decided that she would make these pieces into a quilt using nothing but basic fifth-grade math skills and determination. She was elated with the end result, and she gifted the quilt to the original cutter's great-grandson, her dad!

From here, a quilter named Janice Kroone heard that Lorelai's quilting interest had peaked, and she decided to formally introduce Lorelai to the art. Janice gave her some patriotic fabric and a used sewing machine to make a Quilt of Valor for her mom, who was in the United States army. Once again she was too stubborn to watch any tutorials, but somehow, she pieced another quilt! This time, Janice invited her to use her long-arm quilting machine to finish the quilt. Upon first sight of this machine, she was hooked!

Ever since then, Lorelai has embarked on a crazy adventure through quilting, designing, and now, garment sewing! What began as a box of fabric strips, is now her passion!
